Power folding wing mirrors

On a car that doesn't have folding wing mirrors, would the wiring be there already, should one wish to retro fit?

Come back to this again because I have seen a pair of folding mirrors, but only want to get them if the wiring etc is already there to be able to take them. Also, presumably there must be a switch that goes on the dash or driver's door to actually fold them?

Anyone got any experience of these?

The folding switch button goes on the door.  It's part of the adjustment switch.   I don't think that all the wiring is there.  But it can be done.  A lot of effort.  The folding mirrors have a second connector.

The coloured marks on this phot were there to show someone the fixing screws.  There is a black connector and a white one.

Ah OK, if the wiring is not there, then I can't be bothered. Just might have been a nice upgrade....with mirror already in the right colour :)

Always good to have a spare mirror.  You don't have to wire up the folding bit now.  Just check the wiring in your car.

I've had a look  at the wiring diagram and the parts list, and fitting folding/memory/heated mirrors might not be too bad.  All the wiring seems to be inside the door.  And the door modules are all the same whether the mirrors fold or not.  The only difference in the modules is if you have one-touch up windows or not.

So you would seem to need...

The folding mirrors with the black and white connectors.  For both doors.
The wiring in the doors from the same car.
The switch in the driver's door.

The link between the two sides of the car is by the computer I-Bus, so no wiring needed in the car.  So a Tech2 enabling needed.

That's what it looks like.

I think that it's quite do-able! :)

I think =that you may need to re-wire the door as the mirror to module wiring looks to be in one loom, but I'm not 100% certain.  It's 8 years since I had the door completely disassembled.

I might see what he wants for them and buy them. If at some point I don't fancy fitting them, I could just sell them on......
