I got a new key at Western Perth two years ago - total bill £108.41 (key was £25.13, coding the remote was £22.38 and labour was £44.75).  VAT added was £16.15 (17.5%)  It was done straight away, no waiting - key was in stock (admittedly before Saab's troubles) ... Their quote to you seems about right.

It looks like you may be able to get it from a Torrent Download - see http://file.sh/torrents/na/navtech-navteq-mazda-sdl-sdal-eastern-europe.html

I don't know how legal these sources are though! (I don't know how to rename links either!!)  As Saabman says, you would then need to burn the files to a dual layer DVD at a slow speed (preferably X1) with good software to ensure trouble free working.  Maybe worth a try for the the price of a couple of quid to get the Torrent credits.

Great and valuable info provided here. Thanks guys. I think the best bet is to find and try the Mazda disc. sgould thanks for the source.
Can someone please confirm that even in the latest version a map of Greece is not included? Or is it?

As far as I am aware Greece is included in the "Eastern Europe" version.  I've never seen it on mine.  I have all the original Sat Nav handbooks etc - I'll have a look and see what it says about the other half of Europe.  I don't even know if you can easily buy Eastern Europe.  I'm sure someone else will know!

Yes mine is the up to 2006 navteq SDAL format non touch screen, the Mazda disc is a 2 disc version but one only updates the mazda head unit the other has the UK/Western Europe maps on it and works fine. Cost? I guess you could phone your local Mazda parts department and ask the cost based on that part number. I bought mine off ebay for £22 copied the disc onto a dual layer DVD then went on to re-advertise the original on ebay and sold it for nearly £70 so I have a working copy and some profit ;)

Brilliant  ;D
The last time I looked there was only the 2007 update which, as I say, seemed to have no noticeable difference.  Looks like I'm going to have to start searching ebay!  The two disc system I tried had Europe split in two on two separate discs.  The one you have sounds completely different with a separate disc just to update the head unit (hence of no use to us).  Thanks for the info!

Saabman

Is this a single disc Western Europe UK & Ireland?  Is your system the Panasonic with Navteq (up to 2006)?  Can I ask what the cost was as I would be interested in getting the latest disc if it is available.  Been trying for a long time now but have never been able to get a disc that works (including the Mazda two disc set) other than the Mazda 2007 single disc.  I take it Navteq have updated that one now?

I have a MY06 9 3 and it has the Navteq (Panasonic System) single disc DVD.  The 2007 update I used was a single DVD disc - a friends Mazda single disc (T1000-14069) worked perfectly well in my Saab.  It seems to have now changed to a double disc set for 2008/2009.  The last double disc set I tried (from another mates Mazda) didn't work at all - wrong format it said.  At £181 I would be very careful about buying without absolute certainty it will work - they won't take it back only exchange it if you say it doesn't work.  The latest Saab update disc you can get is 2005 as far as I know.  I was quoted £450 for that but of course already had that one!

The easiest way is try and find someone with the Mazda disc and try that before you buy.  What I found was the Mazda 2007 disc I borrowed was just as "out of date" as my 2005 disc.  Finally - I used my own 2005 disc in Europe this year and it has got me through Luxembourg, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and Antwerp (including avoiding hold ups) with no problem whatsoever.  Even when you hit new roads it soon picks up where you are when you come off them.  I'll stick with the disc I have for now!

I hope so b204r - I've not heard of a problem like this with the windows.  I shall keep my fingers crossed!  Thanks phoenix, that's right, I'd forgotten there was a calibration procedure.  I checked and the "auto open/close" wasn't working anymore,  Re-calibrated and all is well now.  I've tried it many times times today and all seems OK - glad I got it shut yesterday though as it had just started to pour with rain!  You don't get the chance to open windows much here anyway!

Things have been so quiet for about 18 months, looks like time for problems again!

Today I had the the drivers door window open.  I parked up went to close it and when it was half way up, back down it went!  It did this several times, half way up and then straight back down.  Eventually I put my hands against it and helped force it up past the "sticking point" - it went up and once closed I turned off the ignition.

It's been OK since.  Once I got home and put it in the garage I tried it over a dozen times and no problems.  Is this a sign of things to come, does anyone know?

Thanks Guyver

Took the wheel off tonight and there was some movement in the backplate albeit very slight.  It didn't appear to be rubbing the disc but, as I only noticed the problem after the tyres were changed I think you may be right.  They may have knocked it when doing the tyre.  I pushed it away from the disc slightly and then took it out for a quick run - all seems very quiet!  I will be able to tell on the way to work tomorrow.  Thanks again.

Can anyone give any suggestions for this?  I have a 9 3 TID (150) 2006, with 42,000 miles on the clock.  I recently got new tyres all round and since then I've noticed what sounds like a "metallic rubbing sound" everytime I turn right.  It's not very loud & I only hear it at lower speeds (up to about 20mph), only when turning right but not when I drive off from cold.  (Takes about 10 miles driving until I notice it) It sounds as if it's coming from the front nearside wheel but I'm not sure.  I suspect the new tyres have nothing to do with it but wonder if it may be the brake disc rubbing?  I've had a quick look but can't see anything amiss.  Brake pads are OK but I suppose could do with a change in the next 5,000 miles or so, discs look fine as well.

Any thoughts gratefully received!

Hey, thanks guys - for the info and the welcomes ;D

It makes sense that the size means minimum wheel size.  The wheels fitted were the factory fitted standard wheels for the Vector Sport, not an option.  Thanks for looking the info up Ron, it's very much appreciated.  I'll just go ahead and buy based on them being a 285mm disc (although some sites sell them as 284, I don't suppose 1mm makes that much difference).

The deals seem much cheaper on line and I don't have to go out of my way.  Downside is there's no one to ask when you're not sure.  However, that's where the Forum comes into its own - I'd be completely lost without it!

Thanks again.

My first post on the new forum!  Exciting stuff but not an exciting post I'm afraid!!

Can anyone help?  I want to change my front discs and pads.  My brake codes are:

AA: 15" 285mm
BA: 15" 278mm
CA: 15"
DA: 15"

I know AA is front disc and BA rear (CA & DA front and rear calipers). But what does the 15" refer to?  Is it the wheel rim size as I have Saab 16" rims fitted, standard since new. (Tyre size is 215 55 R16) Clearly I want to get the right discs but I am confused by this.  Any help appreciated.

Thanks.
