Service Interval
« on: 27 February 2012, 11:41:33 AM »
Just noticed while reading through the service book for SWMBO's 9-3, that the time between service for '08 cars is once every 12 months not the 24 months as per the 05/06 cars.

I always thought that waiting 2 years between services was too long!

I've seen a fair few cars pick up bigger service bills because they've gone too long between services. Things like tyres that were OK at the MOT but not at the service a few months later, brakes going metal to metal and destroying the discs, minor oil leaks becoming quite major etc. I always suggest that people get an annual check-over (and oil change too) but many people think you're trying to rip them off, very often it's the same people who at service time aren't happy that their car needs more work.  :(

My 9-5 is 18000 miles intervals (can't remember the time interval, though mine never gets that far). I had the car in last week for an oil change after 9000 miles as I think 18k is too long.

Agreed. The last service I carried out was only 12k miles after the previous one, and with my source of Mobil 1 fairly inexpensive I will continue to go max 12k miles.
