Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / Re: headlamp bulbs
« on: 24 July 2011, 10:14:43 PM »
I found the standard headlights really poor (2009 9-3) and a set of nightbreakers just about gets them up to a safe level of light. If you have a new shape 9-3 with standard bulbs you must live in a well lit area, or eat a lot of carrots.

last time saab were in receivership new prices fell dramatically. I couldn't afford one until they dropped so low. Brand new TTiD for £17,500 a good deal I thought.

My wife works for St Modwyn, they buy commercial land and sell it on or develop it. Rover's plant was one of the biggest purchases they have made.

I fancy a late 70's japenese motorbike or three  8), something well restored to stand out, maybe a Yamaha air cooled RD250 or a Suzuki GT380. Probably get an Audi if money was no object car wise. I dont buy a ticket either so it would have to be a bit of amazing good luck for me to win.  Mind you I get emails about winning lotteries ive never entered so who knows...

dont want something really common, quite like the Alfa's, some Volvo's not too bad or a sporty Audi. Hope the New 9-3 comes off, could be some bargains about.

9-3 convertable in "hot Fuzz" not a bad film.

Got myself a set of Vectra B twinspoke alloys for £50 (or similar - cant remember exactly) and sold the tyres that were on them. Fitted a set of Vredstein Wintrack tyres, much better in cold weather. I waited too long and didnt get them until the snow had gone, actually hoping for a bad winter in a childish kind of way.   I found last year wife's little Ford KA with narrow tyres and light weight was fun on the snow, easy to throw around and didnt get stuck. My 9-3 TTiD was bloody awful. Hopefully the winter tyres will sort it. My brother has a 4x4 and complained it was rubbish in snow because of the OEM tyres fitted.

Got mine from the Tyremen by mailorder...

4x 205/55R16 (94V) Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme XL for £116.00 each

little strip of leds at the top of the headlight - they are sidelights. No others im afraid. Wouldn't mind adding some led daytime lights if anyone had a decent setup.

have you upgraded your bulbs (if you dont have xenon's) mine were really poor on std bulbs. Nightbreakers +100% make them just about normal.
