Does anyone have an electric car yet? Or is anyone considering one? What sort of things are you thinking?

These are still available, too.

This item is still available. Basically been sitting in the house for ages ... a long time now since I sold my 99T.

No reasonable offer refused. I don't expect anything near to the retail price, I'm quite realistic about this.

Following on from a comment by Wrighar in the insurance topic, he mentioned that he has dash cams in his car.

The attached image is from my Blackvue DR500GW-HD

Do you have a dash cam? Which one? Are you thinking of getting one? What are your thoughts on them?

(we have it on dash cam video).

What dash cam do you use? (New topic, perhaps)

I'd prefer for LV to fix it, it's him were claiming off.

You can almost guarantee that the repair co will get the wrong mirror bits (dimming heated glass, memory position folding wing mirror).

You are able to specify your choice of repairer, are you not? Usually you don't get courtesy car benefits if you don't go with their "approved" repairer.

Also try Googling them and see what comes up on aol.co.uk.

To make that a little less arduous for others, here's the link: http://cars.aol.co.uk/2013/09/25/investigation-reveals-car-check-site-is-dangerously-flawed/

If you are interested in a vehicle, or your own, and wish to check information such as the following:

  • VED cost for six months
  • VED cost for twelve months
  • VED status / renewal date
  • MoT status / renewal date
  • Emissions level
  • First registration date
  • Vehicle age
  • Manufacturer
  • Model
  • Colour
  • Fuel type
  • Engine size

Then you could do no better than to bookmark https://totalcarcheck.co.uk

A very useful site, indeed.

It also pays to keep your cool and be polite even if they seem rude.

Agree with that, Jim.  To be fair to the Thames Valley policeman, he was polite and I was happy to take his advice / instruction to fix it immediately.

I got followed for ten miles by a Thames Valley dog handler.  As soon as he joined me on the roundabout I knew that he was following me.  I drove like the a saint.

When I reached my destination he pulled up next to me and told me I had a light out.  Or, more precisely, both brakelights were out.  I apologised, got out and checked whilst my friend pressed the brake pedal.  Yes.  Both out.

I explained to the copper I'd just collected the car from the mechanics.  I had - it had been in that day for work.  Copper asked me to fix brakelights before I drove again.  So, that evening we fixed my brakelights.

Copper was friendly and understood situation.  I thought he treated me well, especially as I was only 25 and driving around in a hot hatch at the time.
