I'll be there tomorrow most likely with the Mrs in tow.

Will it be obvious where the Saab parking is? I've been there before and know the car parks are fairly large!

I'm not sure. It's had some changes, which is why we are going back.  Last time we had a reserved section to the right of the main museum entrance.  I think there were some signs.

Went to Gaydon today to the meet.

There were another 4 or 5 Saabs behind the front row:

Though we were beaten my Tesla - must have been well over 100 of them:

Other random pics within the museum:

Loved this Jag:

It was great to see you both!

But too many old cars there that I have driven when they were new! :o

Though we were beaten my Tesla - must have been well over 100 of them:

That's kind of interesting to hear, several years ago on the Saab forums many people were decrying how electric cars wouldn't have a future as they'd have too many problems to be mass market and wouldn't catch on. I even pointed at Tesla as being the future back when they were being built at Hethel by Lotus but was told they'd never be mass market. How times change, Saab cars as a business is now dead and the remains have been reanimated as an electric vehicle manufacturer and Tesla owners can field more cars than Saab for a meet! Anecdotally on my daily commute I now see a similar number of Tesla as Saab's.

In Support of Saab this was a regional meet whereas the Tesla one was a National meet. Also doesn't help that Saab has been gone for a few years now and Tesla is new and shiny and exciting. I suspect one of those Teslas was worth more than all the Saabs there combined (cheapest is £65k).

Not aware of any electric cars that would be viable for me. Range is always an issue for me as I often do long trips. My 9-5 couldn't get to Aberdeen on one tank, though I wouldn't have to wait overnight for it to charge up instead of a 5 minute refill.

Hybrids are another matter - I'd seriously consider one of those (whilst ignoring the ludicrous mpg claims - eg. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - 156.9mpg combined - so if I drive to Scotland doing 56mph, I'll get 156mpg? WhatCar got 47mpg from theirs - not quite 156...).

You don't have to charge over night, If you use a Tesla supercharger you would get to about 80% full in 30 minutes, which is around a few hundred miles of range depending on model. Topping off the cells takes much longer but given the network of supercharger stations range wouldn't be a problem. I now know of a few people with a Tesla, even my mate with his Saab 99 turbo is now on the waiting list for a Tesla 3 next year ;)

The Outlander is a bit of a crank really, not sure why people buy them as they can only do 33 miles on electric power which is how they make the 156mpg claim. I exceed 33 miles a day on a regular basis as do most people I know, quite why they didn't make the battery twice the capacity so it can do 66 miles on a charge I don't know as that would seem to be a much better crossover point for most people.

Also, anecdotally I now see around the same number of Tesla as Saab on my daily commute around Cambridgeshire. Keep in mind that I'm not counting hybrids or the Nissan Leafs (which are far more common than Tesla or Saab!) I can see things changing very rapidly towards electric cars. Out of my friends and acquaintances I think about 20% now have a hybrid or electric car. The local BMW dealer is an electric specialist of some type so I very often see i8's driving around and there are a lot of i3's in the village.
