I would be a bit worried about this, there's nothing shared between the aircon and airbag circuits so it sounds like you either have a chaffed wire or someone has modified some wiring in the car. I'd be getting it to a specialist or dealer and getting them to plug it in to Tech-2 to get diagnostic codes read.

A couple of questions though, when you say aircon is turned on/off which button do you mean exactly causes this? Also, does the light come on/off immediately as you push these buttons or does it take some time?

Do these systems share a common earth point anywhere in the car?

Try a recalibration of the aircon.  With it all working, press AUTO & OFF buttons together.

The unit will chunter for 30 seconds or so.  A good result is "00"  on the aircon display.  If there are faults, you will get a number showing the total number of faults "01", "02" etc at one end of the display and the code for the fault at the other.  If more than one fault the codes cycle through all the numbers.

I wouldn't do that, I'd be worried the air bag would pop!  :o

In all seriousness, a fault like this needs to be investigated by someone who knows what they are doing (or failing that someone who has a vague idea of how to use a Tech-2) as if the aircon is affecting the airbag system I'd be very very worried.
