Android phone?
« on: 03 July 2011, 04:21:39 PM »
Long time iPhone user here, currently without a phone. Thinking about waiting for the iPhone 5 / 4S, and possibly looking at playing with Droid in the meantime.

I don't want to spend huge amounts, or get tied into a contract. But if I were to go eBay shopping, what would be a good mid-to-hi end phone to look for? I want something that will remain at least vaguely current for the next six months.

Something HTC think you get the thunderbolt over there, you may be slightly disappointed after having apple though,  will be ditching my android once new iphone released.

I'm just pondering the HTC droid route myself...

Wildfire or Desire...

Desire at least.
They really are great phones and android is a viable alternative to apple iOS, however, my main gripe is the music app, for some reason it pics out every piece of sound on phone, rather than just your music, really blooming annoying.

I've got a Samsung Apollo and it's fine for what it is. Colleague has the Samsung Galaxy which has a bigger screen and he's very happy with that. Mine was around £100, though I'd guess the Galaxy is more than £300..

Quite happy with my HTC Wildfire - only gripe is the screen is unreadable in bright sunlight

I absolutely love my HTC Desire Z, although I am a geek and therefore I've installed a modified rom on it (Cyanogenmod).

Using gingervillian on my desire, works great, just the music gripe that annoys me!!  >:(

Love my Sony Ericsson Experia X10.

Has been fantastic phone.

I got it as it has what I consider 'the best' camera on it which is like Sony Cybershot Camera. Look at iPhone and all these fruit ones but none had such a good camera which I use for work. Also records at I think 25f/s 720p HD

This was a quick point and shoot!

I don't use the stock music app as it's, well, erm, rubbish is the polite way of putting it :) I've been using MortPlayer from the marketplace recently which works well and allows you to use the last.fm app to scrobble with too.
