Are Audi drivers the new BMW drivers?
« on: 05 April 2006, 08:32:52 AM »
You know what I mean.

Being tailgated in the overtaking lane of a motorway, even though the middle lane is solid? Is it an Audi?
What is that car in the nearest disabled spot to the supermarket, but without a blue badge, even though there are other spaces free?
What's that SUV straddling two yellow hatched areas in front of the pedestrian exit to the station?

Am I alone in noticing a trend?

BTW, my boss owns an Audi. It's an A8L 3.2, so he's already beyond the pale.

That's odd... says this topic was posted in 2006..... this board didn't exist then!

Anyhow CitTone you're not alone in noticing this, it's always Audi's or for some inexplicable reason Kia owners!  :o

I noticed it's alwaysGerman cars.
It's drivers of German cars that seem to be the worst drivers in all respects

...But wondered if this was simply because there are so many German cars around.

The other sweeping generalisation I would add to this this is 40 something males driving any make of MPVs. Deprived of their masculinity by having to surrender their chest wig coupe in favour of the kids, they feel they have something to prove...

Clarkson said exactly this on Top Gear a year or so ago - ie that the aggressive BMW drivers had all migrated into Audis.

I thought they were all learners and that Audi stood for Ar55ole Under Driving Instruction

I reckon that the interior of an Audi is so perfectly designed, so free of character and interest, so funereal,   that the occupants are bored out of their heads.  Add to that painfully arse-numbing seats in the sportier models, they lose all prospect of joyful existence and drive fast/ badly in the hope of a serious accident or an arrest by the authorities which will put them out of their absolute, humourless misery.  Voorsprung Durch Technik as they used to say.

(OK, I know there are some big comfortable interesting ones as well, driven by big comfortable interesting people who don't tailgate or park stupidly)

Merc driver upstaged the Audi drivers tonight, was driving home just now in very very thick fog. Merc overtook me at warp speed, I half wonder if it will be found in a ditch come the morning.

Well this Audi driver must have put up a fantastic display of acrobatics!!!!!

The car sits approx 100 feet from edge of road but it left the road where my car is in second picture and from there it traveled around 300 feet amazingly missing trees and on a perfectly straight road with no dips or anything. I shudder to think what speed it was going at the time. The driver was lucky to survive.

How the hell the recovery firm will get it off the field I do not know as its cultivated and very very wet - even more amazing at the distance as you'd expect the soggy ground to absorb some impact!

Once on its roof it would be a sledge.  Was the ground frozen when it went in?
