Touring package - what is it?
« on: 05 March 2018, 10:37:36 PM »
I've just seen an ad for a 9-3 Aero in the US, and it refers to it's spec. It mentions a Touring package, and homelink.

What are these, and were they US only?

Also, were rain sensing wipers an option on the 9-3? I don't think mine has them.

Homelink seems to relate to auto dimming rear view mirror.

As aerojon says.

There's nothing about any of these three in the accessories brochure for 2007, nor the full used Saab catalogue for 2000-2010. My own 9-3 experience (Arc trim) was about six months some twelve years back, so can't remember the wiper functions.

Homelink sounds more like the system GM and others use for live communications with a service/call centre?

I think homelink was actually a rear view mirror with auto-dimming a compass and a remote garage door opening capability. The live telematics system with emergency calling etc. is called onstar.

I suppose the mirror housing is as good a place as any for a compass!

I've a relative who's used onstar. Nice in principle, poor in practice. I think he'd have preferred the compass and remote door opener.
