Just watched this, follows a car sold at auction through restoration & subsequent resale

I've seen it again tonight.  I missed the first half of that programme when it was on earlier this year.

Quite interesting. It gives a realistic view of car restoration.  There was another Saab programme last year about selling Saabs from thwe same place.  Alistair Philpott was on, giving advice on the history oif the early Saabs, etc. I must look it out again.

I didn't realise Alistair was on (but then again have never met him), perhaps that bit was when others in the household were chattering. I recorded it so can watch again whenever, but I think that it's available on replay anyway

They did do a proper job on it though :thumbsup:

The programme that Alastair was on was a different one.  He has took over his father’s Sonett a couple of years ago and is restoring a 96. It seems to be a “project”.

He lives down the road from you south of Northallerton.

Ah, I misunderstood, he was in another TV show

He's not far from me, but I know about him essentially from what may be termed the dyno wars around the high power cars he & Jeff the Chef had in the past  ;D

He's still got the "Farting Buffalo". The 9-5 with the Quaife gearbox and the "extreme" Noobtune.  It's been "stored" for a few years.  I last saw it in action at Cadwell at the SaabFest in 2015. I think he's trying to sell it for parts.

Now you've done it

I was at Croft last weekend & got to thinking what a properly set up 9-5 would be capable of, whether a saloon would be best or just for fun go estate route like the BTCC ovloV, but my mind naturally turned to gearbox, diff and drive shaft challenges

I think the Quaife was an "issue".  One of the end nuts wouldn't stay tight.

Indeed.  The SaabFest that year was a Trackday.  I only took part in the parade lap! Apparently the long right hand curve taken at speed can cause oil starvation in a B205/B235 engine!
