Title: INTERIOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Post by: collywobble on 16 June 2017, 08:21:46 AM
Does anybody know what the grey coating is on the interior temperature sensor that is in the housing for the front courtesy light?

Mine is fine but I have just bought a second hand housing as the little grille cover on the one in my car is broken (due to someone not being careful when adjusting the mirror), and the interior temperature sensor has some of the coating worn away and I was wondering if it is possible to touch up the coating so I can keep it as a spare?
I have just checked the sensor in my car and there is no coating on it!

Further to my last post on this subject I have got round to taking a photo of the cabin temperature sensor that came with the second hand interior light cover I bought. As you can see it is coated with a grey substance, which I first thought was thermal paste that you use when installing a new processor to a computer motherboard but it seems to have been sprayed on, a small area on the part that protrudes from the light cover is worn away, possibly from being caught when the interior mirror is adjusted.

The original cabin temperature sensor on my car has no grey coating and I am wondering if this was some sort of improvement on later cars?
