Title: Service Reset - usual solution won't work.....
Post by: jmblack on 22 August 2011, 10:56:47 AM
Got the service due showing on SID on my 2009 95 Estate.

The "fix" that always worked on my wife's 2006 car (clear message, then press again, get "cleared" and hold for another 10 secs or so) won't work.

The handbook says to hold for 8 secs, so should be the same.

It's also been there for about 3k, so it doesn't seem to reset aftera a while either.

Anyone know if there's anything different for the final year's model? It's really irritating!

Someone mentioned doing the clear with the brake pedal pressed.  Not tried it.  My car is a 2007 and pressing the clear button seems to work.

Tried everything without success on a 2010 9-5 estate.
The Dealer said that it had to go back to them so it did.
But it was done in a couple of secs (whilst I was looking the other way).

Last offer! :)

Try pressing the trip reset button, with or without the brake pedal, and with or without the engine running.

It's the way it was done on Fords.

My WIS only goes up to 2007.  Attached is a copy of the Saab info for the 9-5 of that year:

It's worked!!

Not sure what I did different - only thing I think is that before I only tried with engine running rather than just ignition on (althouhg can't believe I did as I tried every combo I could think of!)

Anyway, thanks to all for comments - it's worked now!

So glad I have joined this board and got a copy of WIS. I would have been taking to the dealer or indy to get the service light reset. WIS is a handy tool but there's so much info in it it you have to search, browsing is no good. Cheers.

Evenin' all. Anyone know how to do it on my '03 version? The "Clear + brake pedal" for eight seconds doesn't work.

Yes.  On the earlier cars.......

1.  Press "Clear" once to clear the message.
2.  Press "Clear" again and hold for 10 seconds.

The word "Cleared" will appear with a bleep, but don't let go of the button.  Keep it pressed and "Serviced" will appear with a second bleep.
