- and I couldn't see CEL for 'check engine light', which is quite a common usage (though I don't know how formal).

[mod edit] Done!

I dont understand what this post is saying...

It's a pinned post that people with queries about spark-plug types and gaps can consult without having to start fresh threads each time.

I've never seen any figures. I assume sales have been terrible. No sooner were they getting over the poor reviews on the handling than the coverage on Saab's financial difficulties began.

I think from the 'sound' of your post you want to walk, and therefore should. It might be cheap but no one wants to buy something with reservations attached. Obviously it's a short-term hassle looking around, but it's a s/h buyer's market right now, so I'd keep looking.

It was a bit like duck.  All serene on the surface (mostly) but the mods were paddling like hell underneath!!

(A swan, surely?  :D)

As far as I'm aware from bodyshop - the collision sensors for the airbag deployment release the locking mechnism.
I might have misheard but it is certainly plausable if my old Volvo 940 had it!

Yup, that does make sense.

But then if you don't manually deploy the central locking you forfeit the pleasure of hearing your kids say "Dad, are we in the badlands?"...

Wonders... is there an auto unlock in the event of an accident?

Now that's a good point: it's a smart car so that might well have been designed in (e.g. if airbags deployed doors unlock).

I do like the idea of doors locking when moving off - especially if wife driving with handbag on passenger seat!

I've always hated the rolling lock and couldn't get it taken off the current car soon enough, though obviously it depends where you live (and what your wife does with her handbag...). Maybe I'm just claustrophobic, but, Saabs esp being such secure cars, I shudder at the thought of people trying to get in and help you in the event of an accident. I just punch the central locking button when urban!

Yes a very relevant question. I've been wondering about this, given a desire to avoid German cars. Interesting how few would jump 'sideways' to Volvo.

BTW hi all, some familiar names here; I was NedLudd on Saabscene, decided on a makeover.
