What's a block tester? Is it a chemical test?

As Audax says. The main plus point is that it only takes about 5mins and only involves opening the bonnet and removing the expansion bottle cap.

Definate screeching noise like old fan belt noise Will but it is sounding a little more like the turbo now as it doesn't happen under light pressure on pedal.

You and your turbos! (Should have bought from a reputable seller.   ;D)

Coolant levels are not stable. But I think it is possibly the radiator weeping at the tank seams. Having said that, there is black dust floating in the coolant in the bottle. So it isn't looking flash, is it...
But it runs well once it runs. Should do a pressure test I guess...

Use a block tester.

......... while getting front and back swapped.....

As the man said..........

Rear tyre scalloping/cupping normally exhibits itself as a noise similar to a front wheel bearing.

Next question then.

How do I get the d*mn thing off? (The one on the 9-5 Estate has started to play up)

Thanks

steve

Are you sure it is the alarm unit at fault?  A faulty Tilt sensor can produce the same symptoms. TechII can tell you if the sensor is at fault.

I have taken the decision that it's worth perhaps getting a re-manufactured one for £375 + VAT with 3 year warranty and cost of 2 hrs labour is not much more than a years extension on the warranty! So rather than have a possible 1250 bill I will wait and see

Let me check in my garage - again!   ;)

The colour usually only affects plastics used in sunlight (UV light).  When we laid any exposed plastic pipe for water mains, it was always black.

I would suggest that black is used to actually garner the UV, and IR, and keep the plastic warmer and less brittle............

The reason most people don't hear about the rarer sudden failure is that as the car dies they get their breakdown recovery to dump it at the nearest garage, they pull the code see it's the CPS ...........

Isn't it true that failing CPS's, (poor hot starting etc,), do not throw up a fault code, and people replace them when poor hot startings appear. before they suddenly fail?

It's the first CPS hat I've heard of that has completely and suddenly failed.  I'm sure it has happened to others, but all I've heard of have failed "slowly".  Do you know if it was the sensor or a broken wire?

Ditto, and ditto for the cause.......

How did the other car fare? Some years ago a "young filly" ran into the back of my Aero. Her car's front end was caved in with water pouring onto the road from a broken radiator. The Aero had a bit of dirt removed from the bumper!

How did we all manage, in the UK and abroad, before GPS and Sat Nav?   ;)

(I can remember back in 1970, having just graduated, five of us set off and drove, and lived in, a SWB Landrover, to Morocco and into the Sahara, and back, with nothing but paper maps.)

Am I getting slightly paranoid or what.......................

Yes!!   ;D

I suspect that changing the water pump probably affected the thermostat, (dirt, crud, etc. [back in my day it would be over zealous use of Red Hermatite]), causing it not to close fully. It now seems to have cleared itself..............
