Went with a Sigma S30 with dual zone sensors for inside and around the car, tilt/tembler & dual circuit immobiliser that keeps catching me out (not read the manual yet to adjust the delay time for the cut off while not setting the actual alarm) .. but well pleased for £350 fitted. ...Excellent job from Automotive Control in Avonmouth.

After 12 months off the road for a bit of a tidy up I'll be putting my '89 T16S Vert back into daily use - but while laid up the alarm system has croaked it! (after market basic alarm so not lamenting its demise).

Has anyone fitted or had fitted recently an alarm system suitable for an oldish convertible and with suitable level of protection to appease the insurance companies?

I'm thinking of getting one fitted proffesionally rather than do it myself in order to get some certification / proof of the the standard / catogory of the alarm I can fax / email to the insurance co.

Suggestions guidance greatfully recieved.

Spotted a Green 9000 CD at the side of the road heading into Jeddah from the airport....not many 'older cars' about in KSA (bar the junk US stuff) so a running and undamaged 9000's got to be a rarity.

Next stop's Fujheria!

..on my way to Jeddah Sunday.  I'll see if the west coast is also swamped with SAABs. LOL

January 1995 when I went to work for Mercury Communications....used to use Netscape, there's a rave from the grave (killed by Bill?).

We had VAX terminals for work scheduling and laptop PC's (Toshiba's the size of a small house by today's standards) with  PCMCIA dial-up modems......wurrr, shhhhh, gree,shhhh..warble, warble. click!

AppleMac terminals, windows for eMail, VaxMail and remote access to the fault loging system...and as a by-product ...internet access. I didn't use it more than once or twice a year for browsing...just wasn't anything of interest to me as it took so long to get a page to refresh / load, lucky to be doing 512Kbs on dial up  ....now I complain that I have a slow 20Mbs connection and the screen takes more than a second to load.

Now just about everything seems to have net access!

Hello everyone,

Bought my first Saab in '93 (well two of them- the last of the 900i convertibles)...long gone now but over the years I've had 4 x convertibles, 1 x 5 door 900S, 1 x8v 900i and 1 x 8v Turbo...all 900's....dabbled with a 9000 but found it too heavy.

Currently running a 1990 900i as a daily runner doing about 12K a year and a 1990 T16S 'vert for special days and to keep the moths off her.

Ambitions to get my T8 flat front into some kind of order to be a track day car and spare the other two the abuse!

Good luck to STT and looking forward to lots of hints, tips and hopefully the occasional meet and greet.
