thanks for the reply saabman, it tends to occur a slow speed ie approach to a junction on the over run but like i said it may happen only once in a week. I must say i never thought of something loose in the exhaust so this would be worth looking at. it is really strange cause it just sounds like somthing metalic dragging on the road, but when you stop and look under the car there is nothing to see.

I have been experiencing a strange rattle on the underside of my car (07 convertible aero V6) it sounds like somthing metalic dragging on the road, it occurs for short periods at low speed but it can occur only once in a week. I had the garage look under on the ramp and they said there were loose heat shields which they tightened up but 1 week later I heard the noise again (maybe 4 secs at 20mph)
has anybody had a similar problem. I have recently had the springs changed along with the top ball joint could it be associated with this ? any suggestions would be gratefully recieved

I'm probably a complete nutter but I thought that saab should consider re creating a classic (like the mini did) they could initially do it as a limited edition (imagine a 900 turbo or a V4 brand new )

You should get your servo hoses checked as a small leak may cause this type of problem which ultimately will show as a check engine warning

it is an 07 plate convertible aero and has a full service history. I have used adrian smith for the servicing since i bought the car from them (car was 7 months old when i bought it) They made the application to saab re the springs with no promt from me so i assume this is somthing they do fairly often. the first time i knew i was getting a saving was when they handed me the bill, quite a surprise !

there was a recall on the V6 header tanks due to a fault which developed a small leak at the neck of the filler cap. Mine was changed some time ago what year is your car?. if you take it to a saab dealer they presumably should be able to deal with this at no cost to you

I got my front springs repaced (07 conv)  1 month ago at adrian smith aberdeen total bill was £46.00 which was for the replacement of the top bearings the cost of the springs was paid by saab.
