Looks like I need to look into the many reasons behind why the engine light would come on.  I was always under the impression it was a serious 'stop car now it's gonna blow...!' type of warning.  Now hoping it's something simple.  It was odd that it came on right after stopping to fill up though...?

On the plus side the roof has come back to life.  I tried to remove the centre console switch module to investigate the switch. The roof switch was clicking in both directions, but only seemed to work when pushed to the roof lower position.  I didn't find anything obvious with the switch, but after i'd replaced it I tried the roof again, hey presto it lowers again.  I took this opportunity to check some of the micro switches, tried lowering it with the storage bag clipped up and the CEL warnings came back, same with trying to lower it with the handle latches in place.  Once again the CEL told me off.  Now i'm fairly confident its the switch playing up.

Anyone had experience of these switches misbehaving?

Thanks (once again!) for the reply sgould,

With the roof, the odd thing is there are no CEL errors that i've seen previously when there is an obstruction.  Even trying to lower the roof while it's still clipped on gives a warning chime and message.  With mine it's just dead.  Am suspecting the switch as the roof powers shut to re-clip it.

Will check the brake clips.  I did have a look but nothing appear untoward.  Again odd as it's relatively intermittent.  Wouldn't a loose or missing clip be a consistent noise?

And it looks like i'll be on ebay looking for a code reader...  Although again this issue seems odd as the car doesn't feel it's in limp home mode, which I thought it did if the engine light comes on?  From what I can tell (admittedly from the manual!) the engine light accompanies 'limp home' mode, but i'm not noticing any large loss of power, still revs freely and the turbo spins happily?
Then again i've not experienced 'limp home' mode so it may be more subtle than i'm imagining?

Thanks again, appreciate the reply.

Hi all,
As soon as I fix one thing, something else happens....!

I now have 3 issues.  I've searched but can't seem to find anything that helps.

1. Engine light suddenly on.  Stopped to fill up on fuel, started car again, engine light on.  The car doesn't seem to be in 'limp' mode, just the engine light on.  I found some random info about the engine light coming on after filling up and sometimes it clears when you take off and replace the filler cap?!  Unfortunately this didn't solve it for me.

2. Roof won't go down.  This is random and weird.  Worked fine a few days ago, now when I pop the roof handle and try the lower button, nothing happens.  I mean nothing happens.  No noise, no movement, no CEL warnings, nothing.  It will close again, the switch lowers windows and pushes the roof forwards to allow the handle to re-attach.  Just nothing on the opening side of things....?

3. Clicking noise on the brakes.  I've had new disks and pads all fitted in the last 12 months, car had the stopping power of an elephant gun!  Now I can hear a very clear clicking noise when I press the brake peddle.  The braking doesn't feel different, just the noise, and a weird noise on the brakes can feel a bit unsettling.  To be more accurate, the clicking happens after I depress the brake peddle a little bit, just at the point you'd expect the brakes to start braking, not as soon as I touch it.  It sounds like it's coming from the rears, but I can't be sure.  It's fairly consistent, can't hear it all the time, but hear it more often than not.

Any help / suggestions greatly appreciated...

And despite my multiple issues, I still love the car!

Ended up sending the ACC module to Damone at SIDmaster.  He diagnosed a fault on the PCB and fixed it.  Also sorted the missing pixels too.
Just in time for the weather warming up, phew...!

Second time i've used SIDmaster and can't praise them enough.  Highly recommended.

Thanks again for the suggestions guys.

Hi saab talladega turbo, thanks for the reply.
Like I said, much as i'd love to, I can't run a diag as, after the unit displays 00 when I turn the ignition on it powers off completely.
None of the buttons work...

Bit of an update.
Have tried resetting the car by disconnecting the battery as was advised by someone.
Still nothing, same 00 code then ACC module dies.

Short of sending it off for a refurb, (but even the refurb guy doesn't think this will solve it) i'm at a loss.

Hoping someone can help, it's getting warmer and no ACC could be sweaty!

Happy to say I now have adjusting wing mirrors again!

I did remove the switch again and carefully took it apart.  I must say that it was absolutely spotless, apart from a thin clear gel like substance on the circuit board, (lube?).  None of the expected dirt or gunk at all.  I gave it a wipe, reassembled it and hey presto it works again.  I'm assuming the clear gel is the lube to keep the switch from seizing up, but wiping it away appeared to solve it.  Will see how it behaves for a while then maybe apply some lube if it starts getting sticky.

1 gremlin defeated, now on to sort out the ACC module....!

Many thanks to all, Hawkwind, AdvancedRoadcraft, win_k and MikeIOW for replying and helping me out with this.

I also agree with the CPS.

My CPS went and the symptoms were similar, although I didn't have any 'clunking' like you describe.
Basically mine would start up fine when cold, but once the engine was up to temperature it wouldn't restart until it had cooled down again.  I did once have to resort to dousing the area of the CPS with cold water to hasten the cooling process, but this is not recommended...!

As sgould says, its awkward to get to.  I found it fairly straightforward to remove, but putting the new one in was a little challenging...

Hi all, again...!
So my electrical gremlins seem to be mounting up.

During a long trip my ACC has suddenly packed up.

It was functioning perfectly fine for the first part of the journey, then I stopped for a short pit stop.  When I started the car again the ACC displayed 00 on startup, then the screen went dead and refused to function.

I turned off the ignition, same result.  I can't even calibrate it, it just displays 00 every time then shuts down.

Have searched for similar symptoms, but everything I can find relating to code 00 just seems to clear itself up.  Not for me so far...

I've detached the ACC module to check for anything obvious but all appears fine.  The fuse is also ok.

Perplexed...!  Any ideas anyone?

Thanks AdvancedRoadcraft, will try that next.  Have had the switch off expecting to find something obvious, but it all appears ok, switch and thumbwheel appear smooth and no obvious signs of why it's suddenly packed up.
It's a minor irritation, but my minor irritations with my beloved 93 are approaching double figures now....!

Thanks win_k, the switch appears to function ok, (i.e. rocks left and right smoothly) but will have a closer look...

Sorry, not much help
Haha, thanks anyway Mike IOW.
The fact that both have stopped is a little odd.  Have been digging some more and will look at the selector switch next as apparently this can be a problem.  There was an occasion when the drivers side stopped working, but the motor worked, turned out the mirror wasn't seated properly...

Hello all.
I have had a search for the answer to this but to no avail.

The adjustment switches on my drivers door no longer adjust my wing mirrors.
They became briefly intermittent then stopped completely.
All fuses have been checked and are ok.
The fact that both have packed up at the same time tends to suggest its not the motors.

Anyone with experience of this?

Many thanks.

Update...
Apparently the belt just snapped, quite why who knows...?  (Especially considering it was a new belt and idler pulley last year, well just over 12 months so no warranty repair.)
New belt attached, all fluids topped up, no apparent head damage, phew!
Thanks for all the replies, put my mind at rest.

Thanks for the quick reply Audax, i'm hoping that it hasn't caused any major issues.
I'm just wondering if driving for 200 meters with no belt in place could have caused any lasting damage?
Hoping not...
