Thanks Lads, superb feedback, will have a look this weekend, the noises have stopped since it happened so hopefully it should be ok, water ingress sounds plauasable, never had a "damp" issue though, cheers

Ok thanks very much sgould, I will investigate those areas, on the replacement speakers, any ideas? some of the ones on ebay etc... are 6.5" with mid and tweeters which are no good, thinking of a second hand one but can't be sure they will be to the same spec as mine.

Strange one this, I have a 9-3 1.9tid (150) 2007(not face lift 56 plate)  anniversary saloon, have had it 2 years.
The other day I returned from car wash,( usually do the "hand car wash" but this as a crappy automated pull through job, just wanted to get salt off). heard a strange "interference crackling sound" from the radio that I had not heard before,
pulled up at home, locked car, whilst talking to my neighbour I heard an almighty racket coming from the stereo, so unlocked car, went for the volume control worried about how loud the noise was ( sounded like a jet engine ) did nothing, the stereo was off, no keys in car, so I pulled the fuse out of the boot for the stereo, still doing it?, god knows what was powering them.

Anyway, I have noticed o/s/f door speaker flapping, and maybe a couple of others are below par.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? I think the root cause must be the car wash? I have removed the head unit, all connections are fine, no visible water ingress, cars in very good condition, doors/ seals etc....wise.
I'm worried if I replace and the issue re-occurs with out knowing what it was, blowing any new speakers.

Other thing I need help with is what speakers to get, I presume the sat/nav stero combi (grundig) and 7 speakers isn't the standard stereo, maybe ungraded for the anniversary? also heard the door speakers are sub frequency only?

thinking of just the door speaker to change at the min.

unsure what to buy and where at the minute?

Hi everyone,

I need to change pads and discs all round on my SAAB 9-3 anniversary 1.9tid, I know sometimes there are 2 different brake types fitted, just wondering if any of you helpful people can save me the hassle of taking all wheels off to have a look,

Anyone know which type, much appreciated :-)

I might have a look then there millions of screws!, the unit was ok for a few weeks before it played up, saying that though the suspension on this car is rock hard and it may have dislodged internally?

On the suspension issue, how come its so stiff on the anniversay sport?, I know it has the aero body skirts etc.. whether the suspension was also changed on this model, my previous 9-3 (2006) vector sport wasn't as stiff a ride as my one,can the suspension be softened?

Hi All,

I have had a new sat nav laser, and a cd laser fitted to my head unit, now the bleedin touch screen doesn't work!!!

I have spoke to the compnay that replaced the lasers and they are not much help

just to confirm the screen lights up fine etc... just doesnt repond to being touched, can only use hard wired button on the sides

Has anyone else been affected by this, the screen looks perfectly fine, I have took the unit out and checked all leads including the ribbon wire, seems all ok?

Or does anybody know where these can be repaired, thanks all, its the Delphi grundig one.

I took my stereo out, then found a warrenty sticker, saying void if removed, 3month warrenty, and was surprised to see the date was end of march 13, just over a month ago, and the dealer I bought the car from said he know of knowhere that repairs these stereos, whether it was him or the last owner who had it repaired I don't know, my moneys on the dealer, as he had the car a few weeks before I bought it mid-April, anyway, I rang the company and they said it was in for a new lazer on the DVD drive that runs the nav disk.

He said the unit is Pioneer, that has GM Markings, he is a very helpful chap, had all the time in the world to talk, said to try and clean the lazer but suspected it required anew one. he said he hasn't yet seen one unservicable on the audio before just the lazer.

Anyway the company is CARS,(car audio repairs) 66 Goldstone Villas, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 3RU,  chaps name is Richard, thought I would share this in case any of you need a repair.

I have sent it down to him, and he has changed a few dozen on this model, stuggled to find a repairer on coventry where I live

Struggling to find oil spec and whether there is a filter in the autobox, does anyone know about this, muchly appreaciated

Hi All, I have had this car a couple of weeks, I am due to have the engine and gearbox oil replaced next week, its got FSH, I have just noticed that when I accelerate hard, the engine tends to rev more, and the speed is slightly less, as if the clutch was slipping if it was manual, this has just started happening, have any of you ever come across this, and what are these boxes like generally for reliablility, my maintenence chap at work who does my servicing says it maybe the oil, he said to change oil, then change it again in a few weeks to allow something else to drain inside the box, thanks

It is just the cd thats playing up, the sat nav works fine, disc goes in behind the touch screen, (wish I hadn't bought a garmin at xmas now!), and I use original cds so its not copies, but good points, I will burn at slow speed from now on:-),

Cheers sgould for the diagram, I may take it out and look for anything obvious, the cd cleaner disc I bought needs to be read to work, so maybe I can clean the lazer with a cotton bud, and some solvent.

Next to get some fresh auto box oil and engine oil in it, have to say, I'm a little dissapointed in the anniversary equipment, my last saab an 06 vector sport 120 bhp, had heated seats,auto dim mirror, all electric heater controls, I wonder why they changed all this from 06-07? anyway better then the golf i had, thanks again chaps, sure I will find more things for advice:-)

Just joined your ace site,My name is Sean, I have recently bought my 3rd saab, a 9-3 anniversary 07 diesel auto, just finding a few niggles with it, I am getting a disc error come up on the screen, then the disc is ejecting, tried a disc cleaner, but they need to read first, only good for "working cd players", so I was hoping maybe some of you have heard of this problem, and was wondering is there anywhere that may repair, as saab main dealers all gone. also how does the system come out?, its an integrated sat nav/ stereo etc.. with the nav disc reader beneath the cd player, might have a go at it myself,
