Ok no problem, just thought if you were fairly near I'd prefer to use you as you know what you are doing! I appreciate your time and input though, thanks for answering my question, allan

Thanks, yeah I will do, just wanted to know whether it was possible or not. That is why i am doing my research first aas i dont want to waste anyones time, and makesur ei get a compatible unit. I didnt realise you did tech 2 for work, where are you based? Thanks, allan

Thanks for that audax, just what i needed to know, they are about 4-5 hours drive for me so not an option unless i am desperate. Knowing that it can be done with tech2 means that i should get the closest dealer to do it maybe! Now i can go ahead and get one, and see what happens! Thanks for your help, appreciated.

Sorry forgot to say, my reg is SC05S**, VIN YS3FH79Y25601****, CIM 128.05.588, so might help update the list, was 1st registered july 2005, so would be an earlier build.

[edited to remove the last digits of the reg and chassis number - too much detail!! :) ]

Oh and last night i might have found an answer...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171025991652?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Saab Service northwest, i have emailed them as i doubt they will be open at the weekend, they claim to be able to do it but i am checking, i also want to see whether they can do the units on the bench rather than in the car and see whether i can post them, as not close at all to me.

If anyone that uses tech 2 can answer this still i'd like to know, not always so sure about an ebay ad! Will see what they come back with!

Thanks sgould again, yes my cim is  128.05.558, been offered quite a few cims, still waiting on some coming back with no's, for example one is a 128.00.469. This is an early 2003 so wont go with that, and as audax says something the same age or newer is what i will go for, but willing to try a cheap one with no faults, rather than the big outlay on our new car. Basically i will get one of these in the last block, from adding the date in on my one i think the info is going up in age as you progress down the list:

12 805 558 undated
12 760 545 undated
12 761 345 early 2006
12 769 673 late 2006
12 777 263 undated

It is just a question of the tech 2 work that i am unsure about, as it would be pointless getting one if it can be done.

Thanks Audax, yeah had some help form a guy sgould on another forum, who posted the following about CIM's as he looked up the WIS, so thank you for the offer, but it has been done, and found a compatible CIM. Will repost it for anyone elselooking that may need the info too. Just looking for an answer on the tech2 side of things, whether i can buy an undivorced unit with key and vin, been offered one for 30 gbp with no faults, which would be a huge saving over a new one at 500 gbp, but thanks for the offer, allan

"This is the list of units with the 433.92 MHz remote frequency and GB listing.

Not just the diesel non-diesel thing to (possibly) check, but also the electronic stability (ESP) non-ESP models and compatibility.

The following seem to be interchangeable.

12 800 626 undated
12 800 467 very early cars
12 801 013 mid 2003 cars
12 800 181 late 2003 cars
12 805 194 early 2004 cars. This is listed as a replacement for the above.

Then there is this lot

12 805 559 undated
12 760 547 undated
12 761 347 early 2006 cars
12 769 671 late 2006 onward
12 777 261 undated
12 842 076 2009-2010. This replaces the five units above.

There's more! These refer to cars with ESP

12 800 628 undated
12 800 469 early 2003
12 801 015 mid 2003
12 800 183 late 2003
12 805 196 early 2004 cars. This replaces the four above.

Yet more... Also with ESP

12 805 558 undated
12 760 545 undated
12 761 345 early 2006
12 769 673 late 2006
12 777 263 undated
12 842 078 2009-2010 Replaces the five above, but only listed for the diesel and non-turbo 1.8i

And finally for 2011 only 12 847 563 with ESP"

Hi,

New to the forum here, heard this was a place to hopefully get my question answered! thanks in advance to anyone who can help! Here is a little background

Im having issues with ESP staying on, throwing codes  U2143-73 (invalid data from steering angle sensor), and C0460-00 <Unknown DTC>. The C0460 is looking like a failure of the cim. Reading up on this i have found solutions can either be getting tracking adjusted, re-calibration of the steering angle sensor or getting a new CIM. I have just had the car a week and knew it had a few things to sort, fixed everything else including ABS light due to broken wire at rear, and reset that with op-com.

I am not keen to shell out for a new cim and tech 2 coding at the dealer yet, and wondered if anyone could answer this question...

If i buy a used CIM i have been offered cheap, that is compatible with ESP, and it has not been divorced from the donor car with tech 2, can soneone with tech 2 manage to marry the CIM to my car if they have the vin and a key, or must the CIM be divorced from the donor first.

Thanks in advance for some knowledge to see whether this is an option, allan
