I was going to post a similar question, I recently bought another aero, it does the same, about one in ten starts (usually when parked on a slight slope) it chucks out blue smoke for a couple of seconds on starting, runs clean after that and the plugs are clean.

I will check the one way valve.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Cheers

Hi Paul,

Could the problem with the remote be just a sticky switch, I had one with the same symptoms and that was caused by a sticky switch. I fixed it initially by swapping the boot switch with the lock switch. If that is the cause then I can post you a spare switch as I recently came across some that work as replacements.

If you are going to find someone with a tech II then they could add any spare key fobs you have to that car, it only takes a couple of minutes. That key fob would then be good for either car but you will have to press the button five times each time you use it with the other car car as it will be out of sequence with that car.

Cheers

I cheated last time and cut a little flap in the carpet, once I had finished it all went back together and you can't see where I cut it.

You could always remove the the balance chain and not replace it, just will mean that the engine is slightly less smooth on idle. On the plus side the engine revs a bit more freely without it.

If you did this then you must leave the balance shafts in place, its just the drive chain you remove.

You are correct, the MOT rules state that cars fitted with ABS must have it working, the print off the MOT man gets from the computer when he starts the MOT actually contains a reminder if the car is fitted with ABS as standard.

However;

It would pass IF the tester does not check! or if somehow the bulb was made to come on for a second and then switch off every time the ignition was switched on.

I have bought a number of second-hand parts from Ian at M5 Saab recently, he advertises on ebay and his user id is 'm5_saabcentre'

He is a real 9000 nut, he has a well tweaked road legal silver Aero and a stripped out stage 3 Black aero for track days. He has been able to give me useful advice and then sell me the bit that I need to fix the car on a couple of occasions. He is based just off Junction 9 of the M5, I have just been down there last weekend to pick up two doors and a wing for the wifes car.

Highly Recommended

I poly bushed both front and rear ARB's on my Aero. The only problem with going for poly bushes on the front ARB is a lot of road noise is transmitted into the car, I regretted doing the front due to the amount of motorway miles that car does, its probably not helped by the stiffer (Abbot) suspension and the 45 profile tyres on 17 inch rims.

I guess the noise may not be so acute on standard tyres and suspension.

My 9000 ani's both have poly bushes on the rear (they never fail the MOT for bushes)

I remember someone saying that post about MY95 the temp gauge was driven by the ECU rather than by the temp sensor direct, don't know if that is true though.

I have moved over to here as the adverts were driving me mad, the old site is just about un-usable!!!

Cheers
