How do I find it .. is it on the actual box??

There's a label on the top of the box.  Not sure if that's where a part number would be.

But the parts list shows 2 boxes for the 2002 model.  Depends on your chassis number.

Hi,

There is a Saab Part number on the label for MY 2001 as have had issues with my Autobox, so cant see no reason why there shouldn't be one for 2002. It will have an AISIN designation 50-42 LE etc and  an FA 57 designation which can be interpretted using WIS.

Hi, just to let you know, if your gearbox is still giving you trouble, there is a 2002 Aero on uksaabs, that is being broken, guy called Prism, under parts section. He has an overhauled gearbox apparently- could be worth a cheaper punt?

Thanks Paolo .. will check that out, priced a new unit up with Saab, they want 6k!

Only concern with re con units is that the people I have spoke to say it has to be done in very sterile conditions and you have to be careful which one you pick.

Thanks sgould .. for what I can see there are two part numbers for the same box ie co1 co3  it basically covers the next yrs car if you get what I mean.

Audax

The first box is superseded to the second number anyway. The last bit is the development version which means the internals might be slightly different generally in the material used to construct them but they will interchange quite happily. There was a stock of brand new and factory recon boxes floating around not so long ago for just under £1k, try calling Peter at Euro Saab Parts and ask him about price/availability.

Spoke to Peter and got the last box he had 2k but Saab quoted 6k  so not to bad looking at it that way.

Peter told me that he spoke to Saab to try and get some more boxes but they told him no more.
