Car insurance and credit reports...
« on: 28 June 2012, 08:02:48 PM »
So, having looked at my neighbours 9-3 the other day which is currently for sale (2.8 V6 turbo) I thought I'd get some quotes for insurance on it using a comparison site just to see what the real running costs would be as I might be able to pick it up cheap in a couple of months.

Anyhow, at the moment I'm using a free trial of credit expert from Experian as I wanted to check my credit report... turns out I now have 2 credit searches on file one from RSA and one from the AA! That was just to get a quote via a comparison site, bit annoyed thinking about it as I was thinking about applying for some credit soon and apparently lots of searches on your file isn't good.  ???

Hmmn, now I look into it in more detail it says insurance searches are not shared? but then the ones from RSA don't say they were for insurance.

These are low level checks only visible to you not potential lenders etc.

Didn't help that Experian sent me an email telling me that there may be a problem there's been loads of checks on my credit file in the past couple of days blah blah... then you dig and find out it's not a problem.
