9-5 exhaust heat shield
« on: 06 December 2013, 01:36:33 PM »
Death rattle turns out to be a loose heat shield for the long central exhaust silencer. A quick look suggests the horrid little welded screws have not yet snapped off the floor, but not sure if the shields has rusted out around the nuts, or the nuts have gone AWOL.
Has anyone had this before - any advice?

Cheers
Dave

Drill a couple of small holes and use some stainless screws to hold it in place.

I would also suggest some repair washers under the screws to spread the load.

I'd usually use a screw with a large flat head so effectively washers built in but the weight of that heat shield is practically nothing!

Just fixed mine using really big washers!
