Seats and power lock issues
« on: 24 April 2014, 05:56:18 AM »
Hello there,

I just recently acquired a 2003 9-5 Linear and I would like to get the front seats to work again. I'm not able to adjust the front seats, It's stuck at one position when it worked. The prev owner did tell me it only works sometimes, but has not worked again in weeks.
I also don't believe the seat heater works either and the other issue is that power locks doesn't work either on remote or the button.  It seems the only thing that actually works is the trunk button(fob/door button).

I'm thinking the power doors and seats issues may possibly related?
I haven't got a chance yet to check fuses or relays, but I've read that there is a relay under the seat and I may have issues getting to it since the seat doesn't move anymore.   Is there a troubleshooting guide out there for the power seats and or power locks you guys could point me to or where should i begin to troubleshoot?

Thanks for any input.

Welcome! :)

Do you have an electric passenger seat and a memory drivers seat?  If so, the controlling relay is in the passenger seat.  The relay provides power to both seats and the switching power is controlled by the TWICE (I think) computer.  I can check the details later.  But the switching side of the relay is earthed through the TWICE, so that the logic can be controlled.  Things like allowing the seat to move when ignition is on, but also when the door is open and for 30 seconds thereafter.

If TWICE is faulty it will affect the locks.  TWICE is under the passenger seat.  Is it wet?

According to my 2003 MY brochure and price list electric seats were not standard on the Linear spec. only on Aero's of that age, although they were a £1435 option which came with reverse tilt passenger side door mirror.

If the car doesn't have the tilting door mirror is it a possibility that someone has fitted seats from a scrapped car and hasn't wired them in properly?

Hi collywobble, my thoughts too. I see the poster is in the US, so goodness knows what was standard over there. Quite possible for loads of kit to be on what we'd class as poverty spec, my inner anorak has seen this on other makes and different markets.
Doesn't help him narrow down the fault finding though  :(

If in US, the TWICE may be under the driver's seat….
