Dreaded ABS light
« on: 25 October 2011, 02:14:35 PM »
Intermittent Abs light on the Griffin rapidly becoming permanent.
I jammed the brakes on while the light was on one day and the drivers front wheel locked. Would this suggest that the sensor on that wheel is dodgy?
Will it be the same sensor in the old 1993 2.0?

Thanks

Are you getting the ABS activating when it shouldn't? Or is it just the light?

Could be just a dirty sensor or a corroded connector.  I hear that the connectors are vulnerable on he 9000.

Sometimes just the light and other, more seldom times, ABS activates.

Some of these cars suffer from a cracked sensor ring.  This is a toothed ring, part of the CV joint behind the front hub.  If it cracks, the system may sense an extra tooth and misread the relative wheel speeds.

Here's one from a BL car.

I see that they went and changed the ABS sensors without telling me ::)
Can a round plug be cut off and a square one soldered on?
