2.2 TiD Alternator replacement

Had a quick look on the WIS and it starts by putting the car up and going in from the underside.  Anyone done it from above?  Just wondering if I can save a bit of time as putting the car up on the ramps for a couple of bolts appears to be a bit of a faff.

Got a new one for £135 which appeared to be a bargain.

The reason it says to put the car in the air is to get to the drive belt side of things through the access cover, I think it's still achievable from above just more likely to result in losing bits of skin from knuckles

It depends what you mean by ramps too, you'd need to take the front wheel off to get through the access cover.
