I think the design of the badges was changed in '06.

My '05 9-5 badge peeled off, but '06 on seems to have perspex over the SAAB logo.

I also bought covers to hide the nice rusty wheel nuts.

Is there's trick to easily getting the plastic covers off?  I used some pointy pliers, but it was a faff.....so mine are also safely stored somewhere.....I'm sure I could find 'em if I tried hard....er.....

WEll I've put a nice new badge on the tailgate and that looks a bit better. Got a matching spare wheel from the Bay of Plenty and stowed the space saver (it makes a nice bumper at the end of the garage). Now for some new shiny wheel nuts. Decision: do I get with or without a locking nut? Mmm.

Ditch the locking nut - no point. Just hassle - and get black covers for the nuts!

+1. Replaced mine not so long ago - was always worried the key will go missing at a tyre change, or the locking nut will seize or something.

Re getting the plastic covers off, mine come off easily with the pliers. Indeed they always feel so loose I'm surprised they stay on, but they do.

There should be a small removal tool for the plastic covers.

Looks like a large pair of tweezers.

A touch of grease under the plastic caps keep them on if they are loose.

I have kept my locking bolts for the moment.  I think the 18 inch Hirsch wheels may still be an attraction to someone.  But on the smaller wheels I would probably do away with them.  On the odd occasion I let someone change my wheels, I have managed to swap the locking bolt for a plain one before taking it in to the garage.  I don't other at the Saab place as they are usually very careful.

SWMBO still has the BiMecc locking bolts.  A bit of security, and they can be easily (I hope) be removed with the hammered on socket.
