Off to see a Mondeo auto shortly  :o

Not sure if I can be bothered with the hassle of the SORN'd 9-3. Two hour round trip from here - would have gone if it was closer (or taxed!)

Mondeo was okay bodywise but I'd need to spend too much money on it immediately. Would need 4 tyres immediately (rears looked illegal to me despite a recent MOT with no advisories). Exhaust was blowing at the front, but the main thing that put me off was an oil leak from the sump.

The quest continues....

Just put a deposit down on this:

By no means perfect, but it has nice alloys, good tyres (all Pirelli), leather, cruise and a turbo.

Needs a service desperately though drove well with no suspension clunks like my old car - definitely tell the difference with the turbo. This felt quicker than the vRS Octavia I drove last night even though it's supposed to be 2 seconds slower to 60.

Hopefully the mechanics won't be breathing in through their teeth when it goes in for a major service as soon as possible  ??? ::) ;D

You bought it from a car wash?? :)

Is it shiny or just still wet!  ;D

It didn't look the most celubrious of places to buy a car from I must admit.

The bodywork looks better in the flesh than the photo - does look wet in the photo, but better than expected when I got there.

It looks faster than the Skoda! What's under the bonnet?

2.0 lpt so 150BHP ish. Felt nippy on the test drive - will get more of a feel for it on the drive back when I pick it up later today.

Looks nice! Always preferred the lines on the 5 door 9-3 over the vert and 3 door.

Car behaved on the journey back - actually felt better than it did in the test drive.

Worst I had before was 13 miles into ownership of a car when the gearstick detached itself from the gearbox (old Cortina) - touch wood, around 50 miles now and no hint of any issues I wasn't already aware of.

Just remembered, the drivers side electric mirror doesn't seem to move, though other things I didn't test do work, such as the cruise control, CD player and the door locking button (this didn't work in my last 9-3). Had thought it was way overdue a service, but found evidence of a recent oil change so that was good.

The cat likes it (even though it looks live I've chucked her on the bonnet to take the pic!)

Have a list of jobs to do over time, first being the brake pads/disks which I'm going to try to get done this week sometime.

And the bonnet badge looks in good condition, unlike many others!

Nice. I think those wheels really suit the 9-3.

I presume you've had a good check of the bulkhead?

No signs of the bulkhead issue (touch wood).

It's strange how right it feels to have a Saab back in the garage. Would have felt very odd with a Mondeo or whatever.

If anyone else is looking at buying a car, feel free to add your adventures in here :D
