False error message
« on: 15 November 2015, 01:12:05 PM »
My Saab Aero 9-3 says"Left brake light failure", but the brake light works.  I can dismiss the error message from the steering wheel control but it returns each time I start the engine. Can you help, please?

There are two probable causes - the first is that the bulb is beginning to die and the resultant change in resistance is being detected as a bulb failure. The second is that the bulb has actually failed and the car is compensating by lighting up one of the other lights in the cluster. Best try changing the bulbs. Its also possible that there is an earth-related issue, but changing the bulb would be the first step in trouble shooting.

Spot on!
I changed the bulb and everything is fine.
Thanks for sharing your technical knowledge.
Kind regards.
