9-5 Aero 2005 main beam not latching
« on: 29 January 2021, 12:04:17 PM »
I have lost main beam latching - works on flasher. Had Tech 2 on it and get open or short circuit fault code in main beam relay circuit. It appears that the power to the relay is not feeding through so the relay will not shut and operate the feed through to the lamps. I can close the relay manually having taken cover off and main beam works. Have tried another DICE module in case but no change. Trying to trace wiring in loom back to DICE and see if there is a break. I need an MOT so for now going to put a switch across the relay terminal and back into the dash with blue warning lamp and garage have said that is fine but i am really looking to resolve the original issue if anyone has any suggestions or has experienced the same?

Probably a fault in the relay unit. They are known for having problems with dry/cracking joints. If you're handy with a soldering iron, re-flow the pin connections.

Almost certainly that, big orange square relay

Swapped one out about a year ago, fixed the failed one,it's still on the windowsill waiting to be swapped back  ::)
