Engine Number.
« on: 20 September 2011, 10:06:48 PM »
Anyone know where the Engine number is located on a MY98 2.3 Turbo 9000. Trying to work out correct red DI unit to fit this car to use as a spare.

They are all the same apart from some very early ones that had the leads attached.
Apparently, you can even use the black ones as long as you keep the revs out of the red.

Ta. Anyone know the difference between the two part numbers listed in the EPC for this year? 9134404 up to engine number S075975 and the one that is fitted in my car is 91 78 955 which also seems to be fitted to early 93 models.

Means that someone prior to your tenancy has fitted an earlier one.. likely from a wrecker.
Check the DI cassette's date code for Mfg date. There's another Learning curve for you :-)
Despite what you believe ALL reds are the same.. Albeit for the Very earliest 'different connector' variants  Which I doubt one can find, let alone buy.   If you can plug it in, it will work as intended.

I have a very early working cabled one which I've used.

Only difference is the connector at the DI unit to aid easy swapping without having to hunt around the engine for 3 connectors.

When the very early originals failed, you got a new cableless DI and a cable set, then after just cableless di's.

Any red DI will fit any T5 ECU'd Car from 1988 to 1999, they just went through design changes cabled to non cabled, changeable ( individual) discharge unit to non changeable, probably different manufacturers etc.
