Project Car
« on: 08 June 2012, 10:03:47 AM »
Morning all,

I'm thinking of buying a 3-door 900 2.5 as a project car, as nothing ever happens with the 9-5 2.2tid estate except that it just provides comfortable reliable transport ...

Any hints, tips, watch points on the 2.5 900? Obviously things like history and tming belt changes, but what else?

Nobody got a 900SE 2.5? It seems unlikely that they are trundling on without some sort of problems ...

I bought it anyway, for fun. It goes. A little moth in the OS rear wheel arch, but nothing that a little Isopon won't cure,

They're a pretty rare car to be honest, not as quick as the turbo. Can't think of much to say about them, same engine as went in the Calibra and Vectra so I guess if you want more information on the engine itself a Vauxhall forum might be more useful?

Good point. I shall peer at a Vauxhall forum, At least I don't have to worry about the turbo ...

Can't work out when it last had a timing belt, but not a major job so it's going straight in to my Indy for a new belt and tensioner, pulleys etc.

I had one (still parked up at me mother's actually) and loved it. Love that engine, and would love to have the funds to tax it and get it back on the road. (I realise there's a whole lotta love going on there...) Brian

There we go, timing belt all done, everything working and an excellent little runabout for a grand ... good exercise for the left leg.
