I have tried (and partly failed) to get some LED number plate lights working satisfactorily. (These are can-bus error free ones which I assume include a resistor in each bulb).
While they work superbly when the lights are on, with the lights off and engine running they give a little strobe flash roughly every two seconds.
Ignition off and car unlocked they give the same strobe flash approximately 50 times before ceasing, and with car locked they flash about five times and then stop.
I am no electrician, but assume that this flashing is some kind of residual current in the circuitry(?)
Has anyone else tried LED lighting and succeeded? Is it possible to get these to work without the strobing when the car is running and lights off, and if so how?
I did see a SAAB of about the same age as mine sporting what looked to be LED sidelights at the front so thought it should be possible and that I'd give the number plate lights a try as they look so much smarter than the dull yellow glow of regular bulbs.
