How To Tell If A Diesel Has a DPF Fitted?

If my car has a DPF fitted, will it just be in the exhaust in place of where you would normally see a CAT of petrol versions?

The one's I've seen look like a centre silencer. And they have small diesel feed pipes going to them.

There may be a black box with a couple of pipes and a wire on the bulkhead if you have a DPF
