Hi,

Do you know which sensor has failed? if so you should be able to force it in or drill it out. I cant see whats stopping you from pushing the sensor in. Even with the bumper off you have to push it in so you can release the holder from the bumper and then the sensor from the holder. Hope you can sort it without major spannering

It seems to be fixed differently.  The clip needs to be removed from behind....

Well this job has gone from bad to worse. :(

The WIS is not 100% correct.  On a standard car the bumper is held on by 2 bolts, one at each end, according to WIS, with 2 more if a towbar is fitted.  I have a tow bar and 6 bolts.

I got the four bolts off that WIS states are for cars with towbars, Then I tried the extra bolt that is shown on the WIS for older models.  And it sheared off! :'(  Then a further closer look showed that I need to get the bolt off at the other end, which will probably shear off too, along with the four towbar bolts that go into the body from the towbar bracket.  If any of these shear off, I will be in trouble as the go into the double skin....

Somebody wasn't thinking straight when all this was designed.

Well the bumper is finally off. Not too difficult in the end.  Lots of white corrosion.  Taking the bumper apart was tight.  Someone stuck the foam in to both sides with double sided tape...

BUT....

The problem now is that I have taken one of the new sensors and tried it in all four positions and I still have "Park Assist Error" on SID.  So I then put all four "new" ones into the loom and I still get the same error.  So I'm left with either a wiring fault or a fault in the SPA control box. More investigation needed.

Unless I was unlucky and the one "new" sensor I tried is also faulty.  I think the set I bought should be OK, they came from a fairly new car.  They are painted "Snow Silver" which is a 2009/10 colour I think.

Forget that....

....I found the deliberate mistake!!  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

But now it's back together, it seems to be working whichever sensor I try.  Oh frustration.

Hi,

Sounds like you had a poor connection. At least you have a spare set for next time, and your knowledge of rear bumber removal has outgrown WIS.
