FIXED - Cruise Control fault diagnosis
« on: 17 August 2013, 10:30:36 PM »
9-5 2.3t estate - 2001.

So it's time that I got the cruise control working. Having had the car coming up to three months now, it has never worked. It is dead as. No   warning light illuminates when it is turned on, and cruise doesn't work when it is, either. I have performed fault dianosis on GM900's before now, and installed the system on cars without the control unit.

Is there a diagnostic procedure for this, please?

Could this be just a faulty harness connection?

Thanks.

The cruise system on the 9-5 is uber-simple. There's a switch on the cruise enabled stalk and it's already enabled in all ECU's (apart from 1.9 diesels) so you just plug in a working stalk and it should all magically work. If it doesn't then you've got a faulty harness to ecu or a faulty cruise stalk.

If it doesn't work then simple diagnostics is to try a new stalk, failing that Tech-II will tell you why it's not working.

Are you resting a foot on the pedal?  The pedal switches are uber-sensitive. If you breathe on them, the cruise will switch off.

You can check the pedal switch/es are properly set.

No resting on pedals.
CC just doesn't switch on.

Mine was like that before the throttle body started playing up.

You could prod at the switch endless amounts of time but nothing then another day it would be fine.

Fixed - weak connection at the switch on the stalk.
