There isn't any software that mimics the Saab diagnostic computer.  You need the item itself, along with the Saab card.  The hardware is the same as used by Vauxhall, but the slot in cards vary between the manufacturers.

The is a newer system that is used via a laptop and an interface, but it uses an internet link with a subscription

Whereabouts are you? Someone may be able to help point you to one in private hands or a local Saab specialist.

Dromore, county down, northern Ireland. I phoned vauxhall garage a few times to get the tech 2 diagnostics but kept getting told theyd phone back. The srs module will not communicate with diagnostics, the module musnt be coded correctly after getting repaired.

I don't know the Irish scene at all.  There are two people who might help.  Both post on www.uksaabs.co.uk  Many of us are members both here and there.

The first is Jim, who posts as "Irish Carlsson".  He runs a Saab repair place about an hour south of you at Kentstown, near Slane.  I don't have any contact details other than on the other forum, and you need 5 posts to before you can send a private message.

The other is "BillJ".  He lives in Devon now, but his father runs a Saab 9000 and lives in the Belfast area.  Bill often goes over to help him out and knows of one or two places that might help.  He also runs "Saabits" a Saab spares business, in his spare time.

Might be worth joining the other forum as well and seeing if either can help.

I'm not convinced that these services that remove crash data always do a great job, I've known modules get sent away and come back and Tech-II couldn't read the status of them properly but the airbag light did go out. Personally I wouldn't want to be driving a car like that!

Do you need to code in a 2nd hand module even if it hasnt been in an accident and its been taken from the same age/model of vehicle? Im attempting to get a 3rd module from the same year, engine, colour, model car to see if that does anything, cause I at least need a computer to talk to it to sort out problem.

My experience using tech-2 was that once a module was programmed it would not be possible to reprogram it and we couldn't reprogram modules with crash data removed. This meant second hand modules were never a possibility and we refused to do them after wasting time on it, then someone posted on this thread earlier saying it worked for them so I'm not sure if there is a workaround (which there is for things like deprogramming cd-changers) or if this information was inaccurate.

Yea it was that same comment on the module (plug and play) thats got me confused. Unfortunately I cant get my hands on tech2 so had to settle for snap on machine (going through vectra c).  But now im stuck with 2 srs modules that will no longer communicate and the fella sorting it for me thinks im gonna have to go to saab to get a new module coded.... (F#*k that). Im not completely convinced it was the module at fault in the first place but I now need one just to get a diagnostic machine to talk to it. And it turns out my module is rare?! Real hard to get, the one I had lined up is different....so back to square 1. Incase anyone knows of one my module number 12800389.

Incase anyone knows of one my module number 12800389.

That number also lists as 12798517 which is for the second half of 2003, that module should work if there is some way of doing it. Like I say we tried this a few times with Tech-2 and getting crash data removed and it never worked and we always ended up having to get a brand new module.
