When my fuel pump died last month, I thought hard about one of these kits, but opted for an aftermarket unit as I had to change the pump with 3/4 tank of fuel, and wanted to do the operation quickly. I later had a look at the failed one, and failure was a worn/stuck brush (got the motor working again running on just the brush spring), but the unit disassembly was not trivial - I would say the main issue would be making sure all the new seals etc go in exactly as intended - the orientation of these is quite hard to keep track of once the unit gets split.
Your other posts (and sgould's) nailed the fuel pump as the problem - died whilst driving along at speed. No codes. Many thanks.
