Occasionally, if I floor it in 4th or 5th, I'll experience a sort of porky-pig-style stutter in performance which, if I ease off slightly, will settle back to normal. I've not noticed any pattern to it and the car is always up to temperature before I drive it hard anyway. BTW the temp seems OK - the needle settles at about half way without any fluctuation. I've recently made the choice to only run it on BP's super unleaded and it's had a few full tanks of it so far but the car only gets used at weekends and mainly for short journeys so, since July 2014, I've probably only done about 2,000 miles.
I don't get an EML and when it was hooked up to a Tech2 last September time Leelac said there were no errors present although he said something like he could see the car had limited the power on several occasions as a sort of safeguard but he was in now way concerned.
I read another old thread on here about someone who was experiencing a similar power judder/stutter although theirs seemed more dramatic and one of the suggestions was to check the DI. I've just finished inspecting it and there is a crack in the outer plastic case on the underside but when I opened it up the inside seemed OK - in my previous 9-5 I had a failed DI and the resin that the dooberies (the bits that connect to the spark plugs) was badly cracked but in my current one it's fine. Does anyone know if this small crack in the outer casing of the DI that I have could cause any issues like I'm experiencing?
