sudden loss of power
« on: 28 March 2015, 05:08:44 PM »

Today i had one of those scary moments, accelerating along a slip ready to pull onto main carriageway , sudden loss of power, engine light on, turbo gauge up in the red, then oil light on, praise to the baby jesus that there was a bail out lay-by

there is oil in it, it is a little darker than I would expect, was changed last August and done ~2000 miles since

where should i be looking and should i be concerned about my bank balance

cheers

Just cut out?

If the engine has just cut out with no knocking, It may be and electrical fault.  But I think you must get the codes read.  Otherwise it's just guessing and that can get expensive.

The turbo gauge is driven by the ECU, so something must have confused things there.  Maybe an ECU failure.

If oil light is on, and no death rattle, it may just be that the ignition failed and stopped the engine.

codes suggest it is MAF related so will see how switching the sensor goes
