Hirsch on 2006 9-3?
« on: 07 May 2015, 11:23:49 PM »
Hi All,

Just brought home a 9-3 Linear 2.0t Sportwagon. Going through the paperwork, I've found a letter from Saab, dated March 2008, titled "Customer Satisfaction Programme - Engine Control Module Update - Hirsch Performance Vehicles". Long story short, signature shows work has been carried out.

You can see where I'm going, how do I find out if the car has been Hirsch'ed? ;-)

Thanks,

Terry

Drop a line to Hirsch- if it's an official conversion they should have a record of it.

Thanks Gents!

Reason I wondered was the letter only had the Vin number, not the reg of the car, so much more accurate (and I'd not "excercised" the car yet, full service first I think).

Dropped Hirsch a line this afternoon and they came back within the hour to confirm I've got the 195bhp upgrade fitted! Top marks to Hirsch for response!

RESULT! Probably saved a few bob on buying it as well...... :-)

The 195 hp upgrade is nice! :)  SWMBO had it on her car for 10 years before it was passed on to our grandson.  It goes well with the Hirsch springs too - a bit lower but more comfortable.  At least they were on her 2003 car.  Eibach Pro springs are similar, if not the same.

There are a couple of other tell-tale signs. Often the dealers were supplied with Hirsch stickers - my dealer stuck one on the engine. The other sign of a tune is the "turbo" gauge - the gauge should push one or two bars into the red under hard acceleration - a non-tuned car will only just touch the red.

You'll be wanting the bigger intercooler, tuned exhaust and bigger brakes too, then...

The 195hp tune doesn't need any of those things, they won't make the car any faster in real terms and will just be expense without any real benefit.

Yes. But it sounds fabulous!
At the moment my Aero has a stock ecu tune, but is running the intercooler and exhaust. Spool up time is brilliant. And when the exhaust changes length when it gets hot, you get another torque gain on top of everything.
And the dog gets a heads up when you are in the next street....
