She's emerged into the daylight. The engine sounds sweet as a nut

You may notice she's acquired a set of black wheels. Do they look OK, or too much black?

Towbar is fitted, they are tricky, but much easier when you realise if you release the 4 bumper brackets the additional space makes things so much easier

There's a few little jobs to do, but ready for MOT now  :)

I agree. Wouldn't have expected to like those but I think that's pretty cool.

Looks like I'll have to break out the tyre black when I give the car a polish then  ;D

Black cars are difficult to keep clean aren't they....

Indeed.  The Carlsson is a pain to keep clean.  The Sahara sand doesn't help...

Today I took her for an MOT

She passed, no advisories

Also today:

Spent about 5 hours trying to get the gear linkage aligned so that I had all gears & the key could be removed. Not sure why it was so hard, except that the shaft didn't seem to want to slide into the pinch bolt area far enough

Changed drivers seat belt
Refitted the plastic seat switches side cover. 3 out of 4 fixings were broken
Removed door card to cure glass rattle. Yes, one of the green sliders was broken & the rear rubber insert for the guide channel was laying in the bottom of the door
Vacuumed interior

Let's talk about Dame Edna interiors.

They're not great quality are they. (127k)

The drivers seat leater is cracked & worn on the base & side bolster (suspect a short legged driver in the past). I have used some leather cleaner. It's better, but in reality, it has just made some of the cracks less visible. Any tips ?

Gearbox gaiter. Not just cracked but the top inch of leather finish on top of the cloth is missing. Never mind the donor has a brand new gaiter which even has 95 on it in the correct script. I managed to remove this as it was held in place by some plastic wire. How do you remove the original. Is it the brute force socket underneath the knob and bang if off which seems destructive, or simply cut the old one off, which is destructive in a different way

My 329k 02 Aero still has pretty perfect seats & gaiter  ;)

I have no experience of the Dame interior leather. My car has the ventilated seats, which I believe come with premium leather and have no contrasting colour inserts.  Over 171,000 now and the first three years with me it had my pre-diet weight of 18 stone in it...

Well, what do you know, look what I found

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324494062614?

I can see the quality difference, bit pricey though. Do you know if the wiring for the fans is there as standard, or is it not really a retro fit option ?

Well they look like ventilated seats, so I can't see why the fans wouldn't be there.  Unless they were supplied if premium leather was specified, but not the ventilation.  You would need two fans, one for the seat base and one for the backrest.  It mentions "cutting out" which suggests that the foam base is from the non-ventilated seat.

But if you are just after real leather seats, it should be a solution.

Hmmm!

I can't find any reference to the ventilated seat cover in the parts list.  It may be standard when you quote the trim code, but the only reference I can find to ventilated seats is that the backrest has a different cardboard panel.

Also, which makes me a bit suspicious, is that my trim code - K27 - still refers to some dimethyl chemical, which makes me wonder if I have fake reconstituted leather after all, and that the durability is down to the lack of contrasting coloured inserts.

Those seats look to be the same as mine.
