Those 'ice block' rear lights
« on: 24 November 2019, 07:11:25 PM »
I always thought the facelift rear light clusters (clear rather than red) looked better, and they were an upgrade I considered. However, the pre facelift clusters include a reflector that the facelift ones do not.

As the pre facelift rear bumper has no reflectors, would fitting these clear clusters make the car an MOT failure?

It seems many others have fitted these lamps to 2004 and 2005 models, so I assume it is ok?

The Tester will inspect the 2 mandatory red rear reflectors that must be fitted.

I think the facelift rear bumper did not have the black strip in it, but did have some thin reflectors.

When they facelifted the interior, before the big exterior facelift, was there a transition design of rear light cluster that did have reflectors, or were the bumpers subtley different?

You can stick reflectors onto the back of the car. Saab just about did that... :D

I could get a facelift back bumper, but what would happen with the pre facelift reversing sensors?
