Saab Museum Festival 2024
« on: 06 June 2024, 08:22:28 PM »
It starts officially tomorrow, but the NEVS factory have a sell off of surplus parts today and tomorrow.  Mostly Saab 9-3 parts.  I picked up some brand new tyre pressure monitors for £3.50 each :)  But lots of suspension parts and steering racks (LHD though...)  Radio haed units. One solitary satnav head unit for a 9-5 Dame Edna at £125 (The official Saab price as a spare was £3560 !!!)

I have found a courier! :)  But I've only bought small bits so far.  I got 4 No. tyre pressure sensors for the Carlsson for £3.50 each, and they will fit in my pocket.  I can't remember the Saab Parts price. And some random relays, which may fit, but are 65p each...

Another Day.  More parts...

Svenska Saabklubben have a warehouse with lots of body parts and other electronic bits, manuals old & new. And a company called ESQS have other bits for the NG9-5, and they also had new sets of the Brembo /Hirsch 330mm brakes and 6 pot calipers for the OG 9-5.

Back in the spares around the Museum, Saab Parts were advertising new subframes for the old and new 9-5,

Outside there was and electric Saab Sonett...

So far I have not found any 18 inch wheel or a cruise control stalk for my 9-5.

If you do want electric, then the NEVS inductive charger is an easy way to go.  Just drive over and park.  No plugs or wires,

Interesting - you may have just seen the post on my thread about a new member who apparently has an NG 9-5 with a subframe made of cheese. I thought they were completely NLA.

While you are wandering around is you see a front towing eye cover for an NG, 12823501, which I need because mine fell off after the breakdown, or an airbox to turbo inlet pipe for a 2.0 petrol,  55560898, NLA from Vauxhall and very expensive from Saab, (if available) I would be quite interested, but please don't go out of your way looking.

I'll keep an eye out, but we finished early today because of torrential ran from lunchtime onwards, and I'm back at the hotel drinking beer!

But there's an auto jumble at the racetrack tomorrow.

Here's some more NG9-5 info...

More general views...

A "stanced" 9-5.

A 9-5 with a drinks cabinet and a starry roof...

And Izak's unofficial 9-3 Carlsson.

Amongst everything else. that silver 9000 Aero looks very tidy

I see that H Blom has a stand there. My brain had switched into Swedish mode, and I was struggling to translate "fankit"  :). It is of course their fan kit that helps remove moisture from the lightbar

You mentioned racetrack - does this mean you are heading up to Kinnekulle ?

Enjoy the beer. Skål

Yes, Kinnekula tomorrow.  We will only be watching the racing and browsing the auto jumble.  A very sad lack of wheels this year.  No 18 inch ones at all.  Not even new ones...

Today has been a bit of a failure, Saabwise.  We went to the racetrack, but the Autojumble didn't happen.  Not sure why, but then it rained horizontally, so we are back at the hotel drying out.  There was some racing, but it was really too cold to stand and watch.  I understand that the red NG9-5 2.0 Aero was towed away with a seriously blown engine. :(

It's about 16 degrees here in the frozen South, so perhaps little better apart from the rain.

Was the NG a road car or a race car.... piccies  please :)

I only saw a picture on someone else's phone.  All I know is that it was bright red and had to be towed away.  On enquiring, it may not have been the engine, just the turbo or similar.  But it couldn't move under its own steam.

It was 6ºC at the track, but felt much colder as the wind was "strong"...

Off to Gothenburg and the Aero museum.  Some are going to the new Volvo museum instead, but a local guy advised against going as it's "rubbish, and nowhere near as good as the old museum".
