Found a clip yesterday on 'tube informing following of a certain Saab channel that there is a company who now fabricate stainless steel exhausts for the NG9-5, some slight differences from the original design and with the option of altering the sound.

There are those of us sweating on the condition of our existing exhaust system, or have had custom repairs done..

Company is Heuschmid, based in lower Bavaria, they will be going to Saabfest in THN (but as usual, being the non-Saabfest type of guy I won't be) but sounds like a trip to Bavaria for my system to be overhauled in 2025 I think, it was an advisory in 2023 but strangely not in 2024....

Heuschmid have been around a long time.  They had a stand at the Museum festival last month.  The quality of the exhausts looked very good, but they aren't cheap.  They do exhausts for the Turbo X as well, but with the exits a tiny bit smaller to avoid copyright issues with Orio/Hedin, even though the latter don't make them any more.

They were also "looting" ;)  the stock at the factory sale there with some trolleys piled high.

€1650 on their website.  Until HEDIN get their act together it looks like either Heuschmid or having a classic car exhaust company doing the work or face the prospect of the car failing an MOT on the exhaust....  at least with the 9-3 numbers are on its side which isn't the case for the NG.

I don't think Redhill classic will be that much cheaper than £1350 for a stainless steel, and I am not sure who fitted Geoff's replacement but I don't like the idea of the exhaust being welded onto the bottom of the car as was his...

Anyway, I fancy a drive down to the Allgau........

Interesting...

At the risk of swearing, has anyone looked at using Insignia parts. They have the same engines and from looking at used ones on ebay they appear to be the same, even down to the triangular middle silencer on the XWD versions ?

They may appear the same, but as the 9-5 was a much longer car they wouldn't be compatible (mounting points etc...)..

Interesting also what Heuschmid also said about using Volvo exhaust tip surrounds instead of the NG9-5 Aero items, especially if you want to make a Vector look like an Aero from the rear; they say that although they look the same they get in the way when the system at operating temperature (system expands by ~3cm when hot) and can potentially deform the bumper..

Interesting as well

If the length of the system is different, then the easiest solution there would be to make an appropriate cut and insert either an extension or a flexy pipe. You may recall I recently cut out the flexy on the 2.0T to replace with one of the correct diameter. Mounting brackets can be cut & moved as well.

Of course, if the width between the tailpipes is different, that's a different challenge. Pretty sure the BiTurbo has the same twin exhaust stytem as the TTiD, not sure about the 2.0T engines, the Insignia may be single pipe, not sure without looking
