Leak in rear. Another puzzle.

I opened the tailgate on the Aero this morning and found a puddle of water.  There were signs of the water dripping down the side of the cubby cover.  BUT there were absolutely no signs of any wet on the door trim or the surround directly above the drip.  So I'm a bit baffled.

We cleaned it up, but we had to drive off to see the grandchildren for the day. I'll try and look again tomorrow in a bit more detail.

Very strange

I would remove the cubby hole cover & possibly use toilet paper to create witness marks

Suspect you will need to remove the rear compartment side trim to learn more

Easier on the rght than the left, unless you have HK

The parcel shelf has been in place all the time. It has the cloth finish and is completely dry.

The leak is on the left, but I've had that side off before. I've also had all the trim on and around the tailgate off in the past.  This morning we drove 80 miles down to Southampton in pouring rain and there was no sign of any leak anywhere.

Of course it's the LHS  ::)

Maybe your 9-5 decided it wanted to play at being a 9000 last time you opened a tailgate  :)

Definitely use toilet paper on the side to spot if the ingress is real...

Still dry after a night of rain.

Mention it quietly, but SWMBO may have put a wet umbrella in the boot.  She says not, but...  :-[ :-[

Well apologies are due.  The car hasn't been out since Sunday.  And the puddle is back.  But the parcel shelf is dry.  The paper I laid over and around the shelf is dry.  Looks like it's a job for the hose and an assistant in the car.  But not until it's a bit warmer...6
