I think they were all the same, but to be honest I'd just message everyone breaking a Saab that looks like it might be right and ask them if they have the colour code?

I'd also suggest that the rear trailing arm bushes are likely knackered if they've never been replaced.

But my a/c works fine, so as Will suggests, if the clutch/pulley on the compressor is all that needs looking at to sort it, I'd rather go down that route than replace an entire compressor for 350 + labour + VAT.

But not sure I want to risk dismantling something like that myself.....

The problem is that to remove the compressor to check it involves removing all the AC gas from the system and then removing the compressor to inspect it. By the time you've taken the compressor off, checked it, worked out what the problem is and got the parts to repair it then you're getting close to the price of a replacement compressor. Most workshops won't have the time, parts ,experience and expertise to repair a compressor properly, hence it's often more cost effective to just replace the compressor than to try and repair it. It's also not unknown to try and repair a problem like that, put it all back together and find that there was another problem and you just created a headache for yourself as a garage.

Try speaking to local mobile aircon fitters and see what they say. Also is that the price for a exchange refurbished compressor or a brand new one?

The plugs you used to get in a Saab box were NGK just with a 10% uplift in price. I would assume that they still supply NGK plugs, if they aren't NGK though I certainly wouldn't fit them.

Most likely is fuel pump, fuel pump relay or crank position sensor at fault. (Assuming it's a petrol)

I think the interval for plugs on the B207 is every 72,000 miles, it'll be in the service book.

It wouldn't hurt to have them changed though, if you have a concern just have them replaced.

Never used anti-seize over hundreds of cars so it's not necessary, they are pre-gapped so just visually compare them to each other if you can't measure them.

Sure re the fault codes but that is not the most generous interpretation of the exchange: I was referring specifically to the cracks on the DI that Will sent pictures of and which the OP then found on his DI.

Think you might have misinterpreted my response a little. Those fault codes pretty much always appear accompanied with the cracks. It's just one of the very common Saab issues that when those codes appear and are *not* a DI failure with a crack it's very unusual. and unexpected.

After your description of the bolts I was wondering if they are something you could get the exact same items from a cycling shop, found lots of very similar looking bolts in my bike spares tin yesterday while looking for a some bike bits.

There's no way I'd be paying that Saab price for some bolts! Although I would splash out and buy 8 of them for 52p to leave spares in the glove box... you might be able to haggle and get all 8 for 50p!

I understand that it's recommended that you change the plugs when you fit a ne cassette.  If a plug is faulty, it can make the DI cassette "work harder" so it get s hotter and fails earlier.  That's what I was told.  It doesn't seem unreasonable.

Used to see some DI failures about 10k after being serviced with the wrong plugs at the local Bosch service centre all those years ago, might have been coincidence though! would always replace the plugs after a DI failure even if they were brand new, the cost in the grand scheme of things is pennies overall.

P1312 and P1314 is 99.999% the DI cassette (or wrong spark plugs fitted). You could have a bot scan peoples posts when they submit a question with that fault code and give them the answer.  ;D

....and here's a new one on me! our phones are now out of contract, vodafone was 25/month and EE was 35/month and currently there are no phones we want so figured we'd go sim only on a 30 day contract for now.

After looking at options we decided we'd move to plus.net for a few months while we wait for new phones to be released as 12GB of data can be had on plus.net for just 8 a month! even better as plus.net advertise how they use EE as their network provider who have given me great signal over the past couple of years at home. Anyway, both numbers ported over to plus.net today and.... I now have terrible signal with the same phone that was perfect earlier today!

After a little bit of digging I have found out why, turns out that EE do not let the MVNO who piggy back on their network use the 800Mhz radio band which gives good reception indoors... Looks like we will have to move again already but I'm preparing for a bun fight with plus.net as they advertise that they use the EE network, I disagree, they only use a subset of the EE network and I think it would be reasonable to assume that you would not have signal problems if you moved from EE to plus.net based on their advertising.

Anyway, I'll raise this to the ombudsman and complain to ofcom and see what happens as a result but let that be a warning that with the cheaper providers who advertise which network they piggy back off may be misrepresenting the situation!
