Hi first off good to see you back guys!! ;)
I notice the other day when the Mrs came to pick me up in my 57 Plate Aero 9-3 the the drivers side LED sidelight 'eyebrow' was out (no errors were displayed on HUD), next day when I checked again it seemed fine again, .
Did a quick scan on net and this seems to be a known issue pointing to a resistor/diode that needs replacing/installed.
Someone suggested saab released a bulletin about this issue, any idea if this work is done out of warranty, or if not what the cost would be?
Many thanks,
Blozza
I've heard of this. I'm sure it's a known fault.
If your car is out of warranty, I would still speak to a dealer and see if it's being done anyway. If not, ask the dealer to make a "special request" to Saab for an out of warranty repair. "Special Request" is the actual term they use for this. And you have to do it through a dealer. If you contact Saab they will only ask you to go to a dealer so that the fault can be confirmed.
It's quite a simple job, but you need to remove the bumper and headlamp (noy hard) to fit the resistor. sorry don't know how much the part is but well worth a quick phone call to your local parts dept :)
Sounds like same problem I had. Are these led type bulbs you are talking about?
If so you'll need a resistor pack, or even better some error free LEDs, cheap on net maybe a 5er
You'll find that when it goes off, if you cycle ignition it'll come back on
It's the computer thinking there's a voltage leak and shutting it down to prevent a fire
To further backup SaabMan please see the attached PDF.
Here is a link to the original poster of the PDF technical bulletin with the fix and instructions on how to fit. Cheers Glen
