I'd like to suggest a yearly meet, one where we can put a face to a name and have a good old chin wag ;) and possibly a beer or two and something to eat.
So here goes,
September?
Midlands area? (central location)
I'm open to locations and months/dates.......
What do you all think??????
I'd be up for this - we need to suggest a date and a place.
Need somewhere with a big car park and somewhere to eat. Always remember that meet near the M40 where I think "H" brought the 9-3ss - first time most of us had seen one. I'd called the pub's owner beforehand to ensure it was okay for us to turn up with loads of Saabs, and then when we did, he denied knowledge of me calling and got a bit snotty. Didn't mind taking our money for the food though. There must be more car club friendly places these days. That must have been 2002 :o
Yep I remember that meet ;D If I remember right it was a pre-launch car that we all pawed all over ;)
My knowledge of that part of the country is poor sorry, let me do some internet investigation, unless anybody can suggest somewhere? :)

Think it was parked next to a Testarossa - the owner must have been a bit bemused with all these blokes taking pics of a Saab and ignoring the Ferrari ;D
I was at Lapworth. Julian brought a new 9-3. The pub manager tried to send us away.
We also met at Tamworth a couple of times. I think Jason organised it. We met at the Services (as I did with the UKS crowd today) and went down the road to The Otter at Hopwas. This was memorable for two reasons - the step in the road into the grass area where the Saab parked :o and a couple of people taking the hump back bridge too fast - including H in his TVR.
Who remembers this - 18 April 2004?

I remember that one. Sure I went to that in my old green Passat!
I'm sure Jason organised the meet you've put the pics on for. I organised the first Tamworth meet - we met at the M42 services, and then went onto Bassets Pole IIRC. I was in my Carlsson.
Even remember a couple of "Saab Enthusiast Club" meets. (I got told off by someone in a 9000 for driving too fast on the M1 in my Carlsson :o :P :-[ ;D
Enjoyed the Blackpool meet too - we'll have to do another up there one day :)
Oh yes I remember the Tamworth meets, nice pic of mine and Sgoulds car side by side comparing xenon's.
Que John.... For the pheasant story >:(

I'd forgotten about that :-[ :-[ Bet John still has the picture of the aforementioned pheasant :o
Has anyone invited Jason across??
He's here under his mr torque steer I.D.
Spotted that just after posting!
Sneaky! ;D
Ahhh, yes, the Tamworth meets. I did organise a couple of those, although, I kind of overdid the meets between 2002-2004 and haven't been to any Saab events since 2006. :-[
Of course, I was free and single in those days and had plenty of time on my hands. Weekends seem to disappear in a blur now! ;)
I agree there should be a meet, I've not been to one in a few years and would be good to go to one again.
Just my two pence worth.
I would love to make it but not back from the Middle East until 15th Sept and will be getting car sorted out over the first week I get back (just bought it)
So, if it's in the latter part of Sept I'm definately up for it as I'll be off work until mid Oct :)
My thoughts on location are that it ought to be in the centre(ish) of the country so that as many people as possible can get to it.
How about The Heritage Motor Centre (http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/)?
Or.. the National Motorcycle Museum by the NEC and B'ham International Airport.. could have a look at the bikes and get something to eat on-site or pop down the road to lots of local pub's etc.
Ian
Thanks for replying, I'm still really up for this I just need to see what interest we get and what kind of area suits people :)

I think that's an excellent idea. 8)
I only just got my Saab, a 93 TTiD 08', but i'll meet. Last thing I went to was a Peugeot meet in about 2001 when I had my old 309 Turbo that weighed about as much as an empty beer can!

Seconded!
In that case then what do people think of the first weekend in October, at the Heritage Motor Centre, and would people prefer the Saturday or Sunday?
I think in future years if we run more meets they will be earlier in the year but as we only formed recently and need time to organise ::)
I'm fine with Saturday 1st or Sunday 2nd October.
I'd have thought it would be worth calling the Heritage Centre to see if either of those days are okay. I know that other car clubs / forums have met there in the past (eg BriSkoda (http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/134898-briskoda-rally-pictures-gaydon-12th-july-2009/page__hl__gaydon)), so wouldn't want to turn up at the same time when there's no space!
Heritage Centre Calendar (http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/events/2011-10/)
Yep I had a quick look before Kev and all I could see was the Police Rider jobbie, only downside to that is Traffic cops on bikes so we would have to kerb our enthusiastic driving ;) I will phone nearer the time when I get a few more replies as to if the dates and location are suitable for other members :)

LOL I was just about to say exactly the same thing!

Sounds good to me-Blackpool is 15 mins away! ;D
Gaydon is fine with me, as is any meet up along the M40. I have relatives in Leamington, also relatives living near Doncaster too. I'm always OK to visit them.
I will now close this topic and start a dedicated one ;D
